Turkish League, Game 27: April 4, 2007
Mirsad Turkcan - Fenerbahce Ulker Efes Pilsen beat Galatasaray Cafe Crown 75-57 for its sixth straight Turkish-League victory on Wednesday to improve to 24-3 and keep the heat on league-leading Fenerbahce Ulker. The top of the league table remained unchanged as Mirsad Turckan checked in with another double-double to guide to lead Fenerbahce over Beykoz 89-73 and Turk Telekom held off Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi 75-71. Donnell Harvey scored 21 points to lead Besiktas Cola Turka over bottom of the league Tekel 73-77. The biggest surprise of the week came when Oyak Renault upset Banvit of Bandirma 71-74 on the road behind Andre Woolridge's 31 points. In other games, Alpella topped Darussafaka 62-55, Mutlu Aku Selcuk University beat CASA TED Kolejliler 71-67 and Tofas downed Pinar Karsiyaka 75-70.

Efes had some ups and downs during the game. The hosts trailed 6-12 midway through the opening period, but Antonio Granger, Drew Nicholas and Marcus Haislip sparked a 17-2 run for a 23-17 lead at the end of the first period. Galatasaray scored 7 unanswered points to start the second quarter and regain the lead, but Efes responded with 15-3 burst on the way to a 39-27 halftime advantage. In the third quarter, Efes remained in control with Cuneyt Erden and Kerem Gonlum putting the hosts ahead 59-44 with 10 minutes remaining. Ermal Kuqo, Can Akin, Nikola Prkacin and Cenk Akyol joined the scoring race in the last quarter as Efes extended the lead up to 23 points and won the handily 75-57. Haislip lead Efes with 12 points, Nicholas and Granger scored 11 each, Prkacin and Gonlum also added 9 both. Murat Kaya let the visitors with 16 in defeat.

Fenerbahce Ulker remained on top of the standings with 25 wins from 27 games with an easy 89-73 victory against relegation-threatened Beykoz. Turkcan posted another double-double with 15 points, 17 rebounds plus 6 assists to play a key role in the win. Damir Mrsic added 15, Semih Erden scored 13 and grabbed 6 boards and Willie Solomon had 11 points and 6 assists for Fenerbahce. The home team also outrebounded Beykoz 42-22 and had 22 assists to Beykoz's 13. Edmund Saunders scored a game-high 26 points for the visitors. Turk Telekom beating Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi 75-71 in Ankara behind Erwin Dudley's 18 points and 12 from Tutku Acik. Muratcan Guler added 10 for Turk Telekom, while Umut Tinay had 19 points, Eearnest Shelton 14 and Jared Homan 11 for Mersin.

Besiktas Cola Turka beat bottom of the league Tekel 73-77 on the road for its 16th win. Harvey scored 21 points and Erkan Veyseloglu and Baris Ozcan added 16 each to seal the victory. Gokhan Ucoklar had a game-high 28 for Tekel, which has already been relegated to the second division. The biggest surprise of the week came when Oyak Renault stunned Banvit of Bandirma 71-74 on the road. Banvit was coming off an upset win over Turk Telekom over the weekend. Woolridge led Oyak with 31 points, Ozgur Biyik added 14 and Charles Bennett 11. Marque Perry scored 23 for Banvit.
