Lithuanian League, Game 16: April 6-7, 2007
Paulius Jankunas - Zalgiris Kaunas Lithuanian League giants Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius continued to roll atop the league, while Neptunas topped Siauliai to climb into third place in an exciting weekend of action. Zalgiris cruised by Suduva on the road 73-87 to improve to 15-1 behind a fine effort from Loren Woods that included 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The visitors led 40-45 at halftime, but continued to slowly increase the lead for a comfortable win. Paulius Jankunas added 17 points, Arturas Milaknis 14 and Hanno Mottola 13 for Zalgiris. Marius Janisius posted 19 points and 12 rebounds in defeat. Defending champion L. Rytas crushed Panevezys 128-52 as six players scored in double figures. Arturas Jomantas finished with a game-high 24 points and 8 rebounds, Mindaugas Lukauskis had 20, Andrius Slezas 17, Kareem Rush 15 and Marijonas Petravicius and Joao Paulo Batista were both perfect from the field on the way to 12 points apiece. Vytautas Tatarunas paced Panevezys with 12. On Saturday Vaidotas Pridotkas scored 20 to lead Neptunas past Siauliai 84-80. Neptunas improved to 10-6 – one win more than Siauliai. Neptunas trounced Atletas 82-103 the night before as Pridotkas stood tall with 21. In other action, Sakalai got 30 from Justas Sinica to get by Nevezis 79-82.
