Belgian League, Game 32: April 14, 2007
Eric Hicks - Telindus Oostende Spirou Charleroi got closer to clinch first place in the Belgian League regular season and improved to 23-9 in the standings by downing Atomia Brussels 72-87 on the road on Saturday. Tremmell Darden led the winners with 23 points. Corey Brewer added 18, Greg Grays had 15 while Andre Riddick posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds in an easy road win for Charleroi, that led 18-29 after 10 minutes and even when Brussels got within 65-69 midway through the final period, never had troubles down the stretch. Telindus Oostende survived a big battle by edging Euphony Bree 72-74 on the road also on Saturday. Both teams share the second spot at 19-13. Eric Hicks and Veselin Petrovic led the winners each with 20 points while Rashad Wright had 16 for Oostende, that trailed 27-13 early in the second quarter. Oostende rallied and got a 38-39 lead on a three-point play by Sam Van Rossom. Back-to-back layups by Hicks and a free throw by Wright allowed Oostende to win the game. Dexia Mons-Hainaut dropped to 18-14 due to a 86-76 road loss against Liege Basket. George Evans had 18 points for Mons, Kevin Houston 15 and Mathias Desaever 10. Ronnie McCollum had 23 points for Liege. In other games, Okapi Aalstar thrashed Pepinster 81-58 while Sanex Antwerp edged Basket Gr Leuven 61-63.
