Croatian League second phase, Game 6: April 14, 2007
Zadar provided the biggest surprise in the Croatian League so far this season by edging Cibona 89-91 in Zagreb on Saturday. Both teams now tie atop the standings with a 5-1 record. Carl English led the winners with 33 points, Todor Gacaveski added 16, Juby Johnson had 15 and Jure Lalic 14 for Zadar. Chris Warren led all scorers with 35 points and added 15 rebounds for a big double-double. Davor Kus added 19 points and Brent Wright 13 for Cibona, that led 78-65 with 7 minutes to go. English had 16 points in the next 5 minutes to get Zadar back into the game, while Johnson allowed the guests to escape with a win. Zagreb is now third at 4-2 by edging Borik PuntaMika 82-83 on the road. Josip Sesar paced the winners with 22 points while Gordan Zadravec and Krunoslav Simon each had 13 for Zagreb. It all came down to the final minute, as Nikola Garma scored for Zagreb with 12 seconds to go and sealed the outcome. Split also survived a tough thriller by edging Kvarner Novi Resort 86-87 on the road. Larry Ayuso had 32 points for Split while Damjan Rudez added 18. A dunk by Hrvoje Peric with 6 seconds to go allowed Split to escape with the win. Last but not least, Cedevita downed Svjetlost Brod 101-81 behind 24 points each from Mario Dundovic and Petar Dujmovic.
