Latvian League, Phase 2, Game 14: April 9-13, 2007
An exceptional event happened in the Latvian League: ASK Riga topped the perennial champions Ventspils on Thursday night. Riga won 79-57 raising its record to 12-1, however the team fell to Valmiera 82-85 the next day, allowing Ventspils to remain in first place at the end of the season. On Thursday, ASK used a 28-14 run in the second quarter to take a 41-25 halftime lead, which they maintained till the end. Curtis Millage led the way with 18 points and Sandis Valters added 12, while only Eddie Shannon scored in double figures for Ventspils with 11 points. On Tuesday ASK Riga defeated Valmiera 91-99 on the road. Ventspils and Riga advanced directly to the playoff semifinals, where they will await the winners of the quarterfinals series pitting Barons/LMT vs. Bumerangs and Valmiera vs. Liepaja.
