Polish League playoffs, Quarterfinal Games 1-2: April 10-12, 2007
Defending champion Prokom Trefl Sopot took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Polish League quarterfinals after a pair of convincing wins over Polpharma. Prokom won the first two games at home 100-62 and 78-66. Three of the four series saw the home teams jump out to 2-0 leads, with only Anwil Wloclawek and Energa Czarni spiltting the first two games. Czarni won the first game in overtime mainly thanks to Aleksander Kudriavcev’s 25 points. Anwil’s Otis Hill led all scorers with 35 points, while Goran Jagodnik finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jagodnik then scored 21 points in Game 2 lead Anwil to a 66-57 victory. BOT Turów leads Gipsar Stal 2-0. Turow limited Stal Ostrow to just 16 second-half points, but needed overtime to finally grab 67-62 victory behind 21 points from Thomas Kelati in Game 1. In the second game Kelati made five triples and finished with 28 points as Turow won easily 85-65. Asco Slask Wroclaw needs just one more victory to reach the semifinals following 69-66 and 73-64 home decisions over Polpak Swiecie. Dean Oliver led the hosts in both games with 17 and 16 points respectively.
The Polish champions dominated Game 1 from the beginning, leading by double digits early in the opening quarter and never looking back. All 12 Prokom players finished with at least 4 points, but just two of them reached double figures – Adam Wojcik made four triples on his way to 18 points and Donatas Slanina added 17, while Christian Dalmau had 9 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Patrick Okafor scored 12 for guests. In Game 2, Prokom started the same way, taking a 31-10 lead after 10 minutes, but Polpharma outscored the hosts by 10 in both the second and third periods to make a game of it. But Prokom was too strong down the stretch and secured the win. Wojcik finished with 17 points, Dalmau 16, Jasmin Hukic 15 and Slanina 14. David Logan led Polpharma with 21 and Iwo Kitzinger added 14.
