Preston Shumpert - Benetton Treviso Everything stays the same atop the Spanish League standings, as Montepaschi is way ahead everyone else with a 24-4 record by thrashing Upea Capo D'Orlando 58-77 on the road on Sunday behind 19 points from Rimantas Kaukenas. Lottomatica Roma is now second at 19-9 by edging Climamio Bologna 70-68 in Rome on Sunday morning. Erazem Lorbek led the winners with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Marco Belinelli got 14 for Climamio. Eldo Napoli is fifth in the standings with a 16-12 record by overwhelming Legea Scafati 62-95 on the road also on Sunday. Tyrone Ellis led 7 Eldo players in double digits with 22 points. Snaidero Cucine Udine dropped to 11-17 due to a 91-75 road loss against Siviglia Wear Teramo while Benetton Treviso took a step further to get out of its difficult situation by edging Armani Jeans Milano behind 24 points from Preston Shumpert. In other games, Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia beat TDShop.it Livorno 90-80, Angelico Biella topped Tisettanta Cantu 83-78 while Premiata Montegranaro bested Whirlpool Varese 66-77 to finish with its road jinx.

Kaukenas led the winners with 19 points while Joseph Forte, Lonny Baxter and Romain Sato each had 12 for Montepaschi, that trailed 24-23 after 10 minutes. Back-to-back dunks by Baxter gave Montepaschi a 36-43 halftime edge, while Forte and Kaukenas allowed the guests to get a 46-57 margin after three quarters. By the time Kaukenas stepped up with a three-point play, Montepaschi had already sealed the win, 51-72. Eldo Napoli is fifth in the standings with a 16-12 record by overwhelming Legea Scafati 62-95 on the road also on Sunday. Ellis led 7 Eldo players in double digits with 22 points. Michel Morandais, Valerio Spinelli and Mason Rocca each added 11 while Matteo Malaventura, Larry O'Bannon and Ansu Sesay had 10 apiece in an easy road win for Eldo, that led 24-43 at halftime and never looked back. Snaidero Cucine Udine dropped to 11-17 due to a 91-75 road loss against Siviglia Wear Teramo. Brandon Brown led the winners with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Silvio Gigena had 15 points for Udine, Mike Penberthy and Damon Williams each added 14 while Michele Antonutti bagged 10 for the guests. Teramo led 47-31 at halftime and did not find much trouble to add a big home win.


Lottomatica stayed second at 19-9 by edging Climamio Bologna 70-68 in Rome on Sunday morning. Lorbek led the winners with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dejan Bodiroga added 16 points while David Hawkins had 13 for Lottomatica. Belinelli had 14 points for Climamio, that dropped to 12-16 in the standings. Jerome Moiso added 12 while James Thomas had 10 for the guests. Hawkins, Lorbek and Bodiroga combined for 19 points to give Lottomatica a 27-11 lead after 10 minutes. Once again Hawkins and free throws by Alex Righetti allowed the hosts to keep a 14-point halftime margin, 44-30. An 1-12 run that Tyus Edney capped with free throws brought Climamio back into the game, 54-50, while a layup by Moiso completed the guests' comeback, 56-58, with 7 minutes to go. Mire Chatman and Lorbek got Lottomatica back ahead, 70-67, with seconds to go. The hosts opted to foul on Edney, who made his first shot, missed the second but missed a potential game-tier at the buzzer. Benetton Treviso took a step further to get out of its difficult situation by edging Armani Jeans Milano 89-85 at home on Sunday. Preston Shumpert led the winners with 24 points, Terrell Lyday added 16, Angelo Gigli had 13 and Nikos Zisis 10. Nate Green had 30 points for Milano, that led 62-65 after three quarters. Back-to-back triples by Zisis ignited a 12-0 run that gave Benetton a 83-73 margin with 3 minutes remaining. Green singlehandedly got Milano within 87-85, but he missed the game-tying free throws, while Marcus Goree sealed the win also from the foul line.
