Polish League, Quarterfinals, Game 3: April 15, 2007
Prokom Trefl Sopot lost at Polpharma Starogard 107-103 and still needs one more victory to reach the Polish League semifinals. The defending champions lead the best-of-five series 2-1 with the next game is scheduled for Monday. Both Turow Zgorzelec and ASCO Slask Wroclaw swept their respective series and will face each other in the semis. Turow trailed for most of its game against Stal Ostrow, but took the last quarter 7-22 and won 74-80. Thomas Kelati led winners with 26 points including five triples, while Andres Rodriguez added 9 points and 10 assists. Tony Akins had 19 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, but also 7 turnovers for Stal. Slask beat Polpak Swiecie 65-67 on Dean Oliver’s buzzer beater. Oliver finished with 19 points and Zendon Hamilton added 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Hernod Hall had 14 and 8 for Polpak. Anwil regained home-court advantage after scoring a 64-66 away win at Czarni Slupsk to take a 2-1 series lead. Chris Thomas had 19 points and 9 rebounds for winners, while Goran Jagodnik added 15 and 10. Aleksander Kudriawcew scored 17 for hosts, but his most important shot of the game down the stretch was rejected.
Polpharma needed two overtimes to beat Prokom 107-103 and survive in the series. Prokom Trefl Sopot had the chance to sweep the series, but Polpharma’s Greg Harrington made three free throws at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. Christian Dalmau missed a decisive shot for Prokom in the first overtime. Dalmau finished with 34 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Donatas Slanina and Huseyin Besok both added 17 points and 6 rebounds. Patrick Okafor lead Polpharma with 26 points, David Logan added 23 and Ivo Kitzinger 20.
