Israeli League, Game 17: April 16, 2007
Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv defeated Rishon Lezion 108-87 at Nokia Arena on Monday night in a game that was postponed from earlier in the season. The win saw Maccabi improve its record to 16-2 in the Israeli League – one win more than Hapoel Jerusalem at the two-thirds point of the season. Lior Eliyahu, Goran Jeretin and Yotam Halperin scored 16 points each for Maccabi to lead the defending champs. Maccabi finished the first quarter with a 29-25 lead and quickly took over the game in the second quarter. Jeretin hit back-to-back threes to give Maccabi a 42-29 lead and then Eliyahu stepped up with some big plays of his own as Maccabi took a 64-43 lead at halftime. Rishon closed the gap to 11 midway through the third, but Sharon Shason and Jamie Arnold made it 84-66 with 10 minutes to play. The hosts continued to extend the lead, with Yaniv Green dunks and some fine play by Halperin on the way to a 21-point win. Arnold finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds, Green added 12 points and Will Bynum finished with 10 points and 5 assists. Brian Tolbert led Rishon with 21 points.
