French League, Game 30: April 17-18, 2007
Sluc Nancy took a big showdown in the French League and stayed atop the standings with a 22-8 record by downing Pau-Orthez 78-89 on the road on Tuesday. Branko Milisavljevic paced the winners with 22 points. Cedrick Banks added 19, Cyril Julian posted a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, Maxime Zianveni had 12 points and Tariq Kirksay 11 for Nancy. Michael Wright had 21 points for Pau, Aaron Miles 16 and Melvin Sanders 11 for the hosts, who led 20-17 after 10 minutes. Banks and free throws by Kirksay helped Nancy to get a 34-38 halftime edge. Even when Pau managed to regain the lead, 56-55, a 0-11 run that Milisavljevic capped with a triple put Nancy ahead for good. Strasbourg stayed third at 20-11 by beating Reims 89-97 on the road. Chuck Eidson led the winners with 25 points, Afik Nissim added 20, Aerick Sanders had 14, John McCord 12 and Sacha Giffa 10 for Strasbourg, that trailed 73-72 after 30 minutes. Eidson and Sanders fueled a 0-11 run that broke the game, 78-91, in the final minutes. Le Mans is now sixth at 18-12 by topping Besancon 72-84 on the road also on Tuesday. Nicolas Batum led the way for Le Mans with 17 points, Eric Campbell had 15, Sandro Nicevic 14, Pape Amagou 11 and Yannick Bokolo 10. Le Mans led 38-47 at halftime and kept a safe lead since that moment. In other games, Roanne downed Cholet 94-81, Gravelines edged Bourg 71-78, Chalon bested Hyeres-Toulon 82-85, Orleans topped Le Havre 77-75, Dijon defeated Paris 76-78 while Adecco Asvel thrashed Clermont 93-75.
