Roko Leni Ukic - Winterthur FCB Nothing changed atop the Spanish League standings, as Real Madrid and Tau Ceramica kept tying now at 23-7 with 4 games to go in the regular season. Real Madrid downed Akasvayu Girona 83-72 at home on Wednesday. Charles Smith led the winners with 20 points while Felipe Reyes added 18 on 7-of-9 two-pointers for Madrid. Meanwhile, Tau topped Bruesa GBC 82-71 in Vitoria also on Wednesday, as Zoran Planinic posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Winterthur FCB took a step forwards to finish third at the end of the regular season by downing archrivals DKV Joventut 85-80 at home on Thursday. Juan Carlos Navarro led the winners with 15 points while Roko-Leni Ukic hit a critical triple that sealed the outcome in the final minute. Rudy Fernandez had 20 points for Joventut. Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas stayed sxith at 18-12 by thrashing MMT Estudiantes 79-54 at home on Wednesday, while nicaja dropped to 15-15 due to a 68-66 road loss against archrivals Caja San Fernando. In other games, Pamesa Valencia edged C.B. Granada 77-72, Lagun Aro Bilbao Basket topped ViveMenorca 85-94, Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada thrashed Etosa Alicante 91-69 while Polaris World CB Murcia bested Grupo Capitol Valladolid 70-62.

Real Madrid stayed atop the standings by downing Akasvayu Girona 83-72 at home on Wednesday. Smith led the winners with 20 points. Reyes added 18 on 7-of-9 two-pointers, Louis Bullock had 14 and Blagota Sekulic 13 for Real Madrid. Smith had 8 points in a 14-4 opening run that allowed Madrid to keep a 26-17 margin after 10 minutes. The hosts kept a safe margin all the way, as even when Akasvayu got within 73-64, Sekulic and Smith stepped up to seal the outcome. Tau Ceramica keeps tying for first place also at 23-7 by topping Bruesa GBC 82-71 in Vitoria also on Wednesday. Planinic led the winners with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Pablo Prigioni also had 15 points, Tiago Splitter and Fred House got 14 apiece while Luis Scola and Sergi Vidal each added 10 for Tau. Both teams were tied at 50-50 midway through the third quarter, but a 14-2 that Vidal capped with a fast break layup broke the game open, 64-52, with 8 minutes to go. Bruesa did not recovered and Tau cruised to another home win. Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas stayed sxith at 18-12 by thrashing MMT Estudiantes 79-54 at home on Wednesday. Jimmie Hunter led the winners with 16 points while Kornel David and Roberto Guerra each had 10 in an easy home win for Gran Canaria, that led 44-26 at halftime and never looked back.

Winterthur FC Barcelona showed its power by downing archrivals DKV Joventut 85-80 at home on Thursday. Navarro led the winners with 15 points. Roger Grimau added 12 whole Ukic and Jaka Lakovic each had 11 for Barcelona. Fernandez had 20 points for Joventut, Andy Betts added 15 while Robert Archibald and Marcelinho Huertas each got 10 for the guests. Navarro shined in the first half, as Barcelona rolled to get a 46-28 lead after 19 minutes. Betts brought Joventut back to life while Charles Gaines and Fernandez completed the guests' comeback, 73-73. The game turned into a thriller once Gaines got Joventut within 81-80. Navarro made a free throw, while Jordi Trias grabbed a key offensive rebound that allowed Ukic to hit a triple that sealed the win, 85-80, with 38 seconds remaining. Unicaja dropped to 15-15 due to a 68-66 road loss against archrivals Caja San Fernando. Unicaja was limited to just 9-of-22 two-pointers in Sevilla. Patrick Femerling led the winners with 16 points, but Hollis Price became the game hero by hitting the winning layup with 19 seconds remaining. Carlos Cabezas had 23 points for Unicaja while Marcus Faison added 15. Cabezas led Unicaja to a 47-55 lead with 7 minutes to go. Femerling and Michel Ignerski fueled a 12-1 run, but three-pointers by Carlos Jimenez and Berni Rodriguez tied it at 64-64 with a minute to go. Price scored for CSF, Faison answered with free throws but Price allowed the hosts to keep their playoff chances alive.
