Portuguese League, Quarterfinals Games 3-4: April 19-21, 2007
The top three teams from the Portuguese League regular season swept their best-of-five quarterfinals series, while Lusitania Angra PM needed four games to eliminate Belenenses Hyundai 3-1 and advance to the semifinals. Ovarense Aerosoles will now meet Lusitania in one semifinal and Sport Lisboa e Benfica takes on FC Porto Ferpinta in the other. The semifinals begin on Thursday, April 26. Ovarense defeated Queluz Sintra PM 65-68 in Game 3 of that series on Thursday night as Shawn Jackson posted 16 points and 9 rebounds. Benfica ousted CAB Madeira with a 72-77 win behind Ashante Johnson's 23 points. Porto trounced Casino Figueira Ginasio 72-98 as Paulo Cunha erupted for 32 points and John Whorton dominated inside to the tune of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Facing elimination, Belenenses rose to the occasion with a 94-87 win in Game 3 over Lusitania on Thursday night. Jason Robinson led the way with 31 points and Quincy Davis added 24 points and 12 rebounds for Belenenses. Graham Brown paced Lusitania with 27. Two days later, Lusitania wrapped up the series and avoided a deciding Game 5 with an 82-96 road win. Mike Williams led five Lusitania scorers in double figures with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Nuno Sousa motored the team with 11 assists. Robinson led Belenenses with 23.
