Belgian League, Game 33: April 21, 2007
Sanex Antwerp G moved into a three-way tie for second place on Saturday with a 71-85 win over league-leading Spirou Charleroi in the Belgian League. Antwerp outscored Charleroi in each of the first three quarters on the way to a convincing road win. Antwerp is now tied with Telindus Oostende and Euphony Bree, which both won Saturday, at 20-13 with three games to go. There are no remaining regular season meetings between the teams. On Saturday, Kelly McClure and Lem Matela led Antwerp with 20 and 16 points, respectively, while Gur Shelef came off the bench to add 11 on perfect shooting. Tremmell Darden had 17 and Damir Krupalija posted 10 points and 10 rebounds for Charleroi. Oostende led 44-43 at halftime against Liege Basket, but used a 30-15 third quarter to walk away with the 91-82 win. Eric Hicks had 25 points and 7 rebounds, Rashad Wright 22 points and 5 assists, Titus Ivory 12 points and 4 steals and Sam Van Rossom tallied 10 for Oostende. Stephane Pelle led Liege with 22 in defeat. Bree bettered R Atomia Brussels 85-73 as Ben Ebong led five Bree scorers in double figures with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Brussels led 37-43 at halftime, but Bree's Nate Reinking scored 8 during a 20-7 run to finish the third quarter that gave the hosts total control. Reinking added 15. Brian Heinle paced Brussels with 22. Okapi Aalstar distanced itself from Dexia Mons-Hainaut in the standings with an 83-94 road win. Adam Hall scored 24 and Rien Van Asbroeck posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Aalstar. Kevin Houston had 23 points and 10 boards for Mons. Verviers-Pepinster dumped on last-place Basket Gr Leuven 91-76 behind Thomas Gardner's 24 points.
