French League, Game 31: April 21-22, 2007
Sluc Nancy stayed atop the French League standings and now has a two-game lead over everyone else at 23-8 by beating Besancon 90-84 at home on Saturday. Cyril Julian led the winners with 17 points. Branko Milisavljevic added 16, Tariq Kirksay had 15 while Dan McClintock got 14 for Nancy, that lead all the way in the second half. Even when Besancon got within 83-77, Cerdick Banks and Milisavljevic stepped up to seal the outcome. Pau-Orthez improved to 17-14 by downing Dijon 80-95 on the road also on Saturday. C.C. Harrison paced the winners with 22 points, Ian Mahinmi added 21, Melvin Sanders had 20 and Michael Wright 13 in an easy road win for Pau, that broke the game in the third quarter and never looked back. Le Mans is now fifth at 19-12 by edging Bourg 76-72 at home. Nebojsa Bogavac led the way with 21 points, Sandro Nicevic added 17, Eric Campbell had 14 and Nico Batum 10. Bogavac had 13 points in the final period to keep Le Mans ahead for good. Strasbourg had beaten Adecco Asvel 93-85 on April 4 behind 29 points from Afik Nissim. In other games, Chalon upset Roanne 102-76, Gravelines topped Reims 83-71, Hyeres-Toulon bested Le Havre 84-99, Cholet beat Paris 63-58 while Clermont edged Orleans 70-67.
