Jerome Allen - Snaidero Udine Montepaschi Siena stays unstoppable in the Italian League, as several teams stay in the playoff race with just 4 games to go in the regular season. Montepaschi sent a message that echoed all around the country by downing Benetton 67-78 in Treviso on Sunday night. Terrell McIntyre led the winners with 25 points, Rimantas Kaukenas had 15 while Nikos Zisis led Benetton with 23 points. Climamio Bologna improved to 13-17 and kept its playoff chances alive by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 73-84 on the road on Sunday behind 15 points from Tyus Edney. Meanwhile, Lottomatica Roma dropped to 19-11 and now ties for the second place in the standings due to a 75-71 road loss against Angelico Biella. Snaidero Cucine Udine improved to 12-18 by downing TDShop.it Livorno 91-77 at home on Sunday behind 26 points for Jerome Allen and 25 from Mike Penberthy, while Eldo Napoli dropped 17-13 due to a 84-51 road loss against VidiVici Bologna. In other games, Air Avellino thrashed Premiata Montegranaro 87-70, Whirlpool Varese topped Legea Scafati 84-74, Armani Jeans Milano downed Upea Capo d'Orlando 92-72 while Bipop Carire R.Emilia beat Tisettanta Cantu 84-70.

Despite having clinched the first place in the Italian League regular season, Montepaschi Siena stayed strong by beating Benetton 67-78 in Treviso on Sunday night. Montepaschi improved to 26-4 and has already locked a spot in the 2007-08 Euroleague. Meanwhile, Benetton dropped to 18-12 but is 16th due to the 15-point sanction that it had midway through the season. McIntyre led the winners with 25 points, Kaukenas had 15 while Joseph Forte had 13 for Montepaschi. Nikos Zisis led Benetton with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Marcus Goree added 13 points for the hosts. Free throws by Preston Shumpert gave Benetton a 18-16 lead after 10 minutes, while Lyday an outstanding Zisis helped the hosts to boost their margin to 49-36 right after halftime. It didn't last long, however, as Kaukenas and McIntyre fueled a 0-14 run that put Montepaschi ahead, 53-59, with 8 minutes to go. Montepaschi now dominated the game with its defense, while Shaun Stonerook and Kaukenas broke the game open, 62-72, allowing the guests to leave the court with another road win. Snaidero Cucine Udine improved to 12-18 by downing TDShop.it Livorno 91-77 at home on Sunday. Allen led the winners with 26 points while Penberthy added 25 on 7-of-9 three-pointers for Snaidero, that led 46-33 at halftime. Penberthy opened the third quarter with back-to-back triples while another bomb from downtown by Damien Ryan made it a 21-point gane, 67-46. Livorno got within 83-73 but Udine kept its temper and cruised to a big home win.

Climamio Bologna improved to 13-17 and kept its playoff chances alive by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 73-84 on the road on Sunday. Edney led the way for Climamio with 15 points, Daniele Cavaliero added 13 while Moochie Norris had 11 for the winners. Climamio led 41-44 at halftime but only allowed 8 points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Edney and Cavaliero combined for 13 points in this period to give Climamio a 49-63 margin after three quarters, enough to control the game until the final buzzer. Lottomatica Roma dropped to 19-11 and now ties for the second place in the standings due to a 75-71 road loss against Angelico Biella. Erik Daniels led the winners with 15 points. Dejan Bodiroga had 17 points for Lottomatica, Mire Chatman added 13 while Erazem Lorbek got 10 for the guests. Lorbek brought Lottomatica within 63-62 with 6 minutes to go, but a 11-0 run allowed Biella to break the game open. Even when Roma trimmed its deficit to 74-71, Daniels sealed Milano's win with a free throws. Eldo Napoli dropped 17-13 due to a 84-51 road loss against VidiVici Bologna. Dusan Vukcevic paced the winners with 21 points. Tyrone Ellis had 11 for Eldo, that trailed 44-26 at halftime and never recovered.
