British League, Week 1: September 29 - October 1, 2006

The Sheffield Sharks opened the British Championship with a 85-83 home win against the Newcastle Eagles in the opening game of the season. Jeff Bonds led the winners with 26 points, Eddie Cage added 19 and Atiba Lyons 15 for the Sharks. Olu Babalola had 16 points for the Eagles. The London United opened the season with a 79-81 road win against the Leicester Riders. Phillip Perre had 15 of his 30 points in the final period and hit the game-winner with 3 seconds to go. London rallied for a 19-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win the game in shocking fashion. Also on Saturday, the Plymouith Raiders beat the Worcester Wolves 77-82 behind 19 points from Carlton Aaron. On Sunday, the Milton Keynes Lions thrashed the Wolves 96-74, the Worthing Thunder topped the TRO Reading Rockets 73-84 while the Guildford Heat rallied to down the Scottish Rocks 91-95 behind 36 points from Daniel Gilbert.
