Greek League, Game 25: April 25, 2007
Panathinaikos recorded one of the biggest wins in Greek-League history thrashing already relegated Makedonikos 106-44 as Fragiskos Alvertis scored 19 points. Apollon Patras follows Makedonikos to the second league after its road defeat in Larissa by Olympia, 64-81. Aris kept its advantage over Olympiacos in the hunt for second place by beating Panellinios 79-64 at home, while the Reds also posted a home win over Egaleo 82-77. Panionios stands in fourth after topping Maroussi 69-67 behind 14 points from Dragan Dojcin and a deciding steal from Stratos Perperoglou, while PAOK lost 97-92 in Athens to AEK, which got 25 from Giannis Gagaloudis. AE Larissa grabbed a significant road win over Olympiada, 73-69, in Patras to secure its place in the top division.
Panathinaikos outclassed Makedonikos 106-44 as the Greens finished 12 fast breaks and posted 20 rebounds more than the hosts. The final margin stands among the top league records all-time and the biggest in recent years. Alvertis led scoring with 19 points, while Mike Batiste (16), Milos Vujanic (11), Nikos Chatzivrettas (10) and Dimos Dikoudis (10) also reached double figures. Only two players of Panathinaikos played more than 20 minutes, while all 12 Greens saw at least 12 minutes of playing time.
Aris showed consistency and never let Panellinios change the tempo as it sailed to an easy 79-64 win. Savvas Iliadis scored 15, while big men Jeremiah Massey and Giannis Giannoulis had 13 each, and Terrell Castle added 12. Anthony Goldwire and Pantelis Papaioakim reached double figures for the hosts with 15 and 13 points respectively. Without Scoonie Penn, Christos Charissis stepped up for Olympiacos to lead the Reds with 15 points and 8 assists in an 82-77 win over visiting Egaleo. The hosts led by a 20+ point-margin, but Egaleo came back to keep it close till the end. Alex Acker had 15 points, Nikos Barlos 14 and Panagiotis Vassilopoulos 11. Avraam Kallinikis had 17 points for Egaleo, while Olympiacos-grown Nikos Pettas added 15.
