Damon Williams - Snaidero Udine The playoff race is hotter than ever with just two games to go in the Italian League regular season, as only four teams - Montepaschi Siena, Lottomatica Roma, Armani Jeans Milano and VidiVici Bologna - have mathematically made it to the next stage. Montepaschi registered its ninth consecutive win and improved to 28-4 by beating Premiata Montegranaro 82-89 on the road on Sunday behind 22 points from Rimantas Kaukenas. Meanwhile, Armani Jeans Milano thrashed Eldo Napoli 99-61 at home, while Lottomatica Roma stayed second at 21-11 by edging Siviglia Wear Teramo 75-78 on the road also on Sunday. David Hawkins paced Roma with 25 points while Erazem Lorbek added 18. Benetton Treviso showed its power by thrashing Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia 82-63 at home on Sunday while Snaidero Cucine Udine kept its playoff hopes alibe with a 99-78 home win against Upea Capo d'Orlando in which Damon Williams had 27 points and 12 rebounds. Climamio dropped to 13-19 and mathematically ran out of playoff chances due to a 79-69 road loss against Air Avellino. In other games, Whirlpool Varese beat Tisettanta Cantu 80-69, VidiVici Bologna edged Legea Scafati 88-79 while TDShop.it Livorno topped Angelico Biella 103-91.

Montepaschi Siena kept rolling, registered its ninth consecutive win and improved to 28-4 by beating Premiata Montegranaro 82-89 on the road on Sunday. Kaukenas led the winners with 22 points, Terrell Mcntyre added 19 while Lonny Baxter had 12 for Montepaschi, that led all the way in the second half. Even when Montegranaro got within 82-85 in the finals second, Joseph Forte sealed the outcome with a layup and Kaukenas dunked it to finish it in style. Lottomatica Roma stayed second at 21-11 by edging Siviglia Wear Teramo 75-78 on the road also on Sunday. Hawkins paced Roma with 25 points, Lorbek added 18 while Alex Righetti had 16 for the winners. Teramo overcame a 15-point deficit in the final 11 minutes to tie the game, 73-73, with less than 2 minutes to go. Lorbek scored inside while Dejan Bodiroga and Hawkins made free throws for a 75-78 Roma edge. Gianluca Lulli missed a three-point shot that would have tied the game. Benetton Treviso showed its power by thrashing Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia 82-63 at home on Sunday. Preston Shumpert paced the winners with 17 points. Spencer Nelson and Marcus Goree each had 15 while Angelo Gigli added 12 for Benetton. Goree and Gigli shined in the second quarter to give Benetton a 44-31 halftime lead. Shumpert and Goree allowed Benetton to keep a safe margin all the way until the final buzzer.

Snaidero Cucine Udine improved to 14-18 by thrashing Upea Capo d'Orlando 99-78 at home on Sunday. Williams led the winners with a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Silvio Gigena added 16 points while Jerome Allen and Mike Penberthy each had 14 for Snaidero, that trailed 66-67 late in the third quarter. Allen and Gigena fueled a 17-2 run that Penberthy capped with a triple, as Snaidero got a 83-69 margin and kept full control of the game until the final buzzer. Eldo Napoli dropped to 17-15 due to a 99-61 road loss against Armani Jeans Milano. Travis Watson led 5 Milano players in double digits with 18 points. Michel Morandais had 13 points for Eldo while Tyrone Ellis added 12. Milano led 44-27 at halftime, boosted its margin to 68-46 after 30 minutes and kept rolling until the final buzzer. Climamio dropped to 13-19 and mathematically ran out of playoff chances due to a 79-69 road loss against Air Avellino. Harold Jamison led the way for Avellino with 19 points. Tyus Edney had 14 points for Climamio, James Thomas 12 and Goran Jurak 11. Climamio led 49-60 late in the third quarter, but a 18-3 run put Avellino ahead, 67-63, with 3 minutes to go. Free throws allowed the hosts to keep a safe lead for good.
