French League, Game 33: May 2, 2007
As many as seven teams - Nancy, Roanne, Strasbourg, Chalon, Adecco Asvel, Le Mans and Cholet - have made it to the French League playoffs with just one game to go in the regular season. Nancy, already the regular season champion, dropped to 24-9 due to a 88-69 road loss against Dijon despite 13 points from Cyril Julian. Meanwhile, Strasbourg improved to 22-11 and ties for the third place by thrashing Hyeres-Toulon 98-79 at home on Wednesday. Chuck Eidson paced the winners with 22 points, Aerick Sanders and Michael Smith each added 12 while Omar Cook scored 10 points and dished 11 assists in an easy home win for Strasbourg. Pau-Orthez dropped to 17-16 and may miss the playoffs due to a 79-71 road loss against Chalon. Melvin Sanders had 23 points for Pau, Michael Wright 16 and Aaron Miles 10 for the guests, who trailed 50-32 at halftime and never recovered. Le Mans did not find trouble to thrash Reims 97-66 at home behind 15 points from Nico Batum. Yannick Bokolo, Sandro Nicevic and Nebojsa Bogavac each added 14, Eric Campbell had 12 and Pape Philippe Amagou 10. In other games, Asvel beat Bourg 68-75, Cholet thrashed Besancon 89-65, Le Havre edged Paris 78-75, Roanne topped Clermont 81-85 while Gravelines downed Orleans 99-96 in overtime behind 39 points from Ricki Paulding.
