Lithuanian League Quarterfinals, April 11-17, 2007
Mindaugas Lukauskis - Lietuvos Rytas Just as expected, Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas did not have any troubles to advance to the Lithuanian League semifinals, as both teams swept their respective best-of-three quarterfinal series. Zalgiris thrashed Suduva 110-69 at home in Game 1. Tanoka Beard led the winners with 17 points, Marko Popovic added 15, Hanno Mottola and DeJuan Collins each had 13, Loren Woords got 11 and Vaidotas Peciukas 10 in an easy win for Zalgiris. Zalgiris advanced to the next round by downing Suduva 77-85 in Game 2. Beard got 22 points this time, Paulius Jankunas and Popovic 13 each while Jonas Maciulis scored 10 points for the winners. Zalgiris will face Siauliai, that downed Panevezys 2-1 in their quarterfinal playoffs series. Meanwhile, Rytas downed Sakalai 125-89 in Game 1 in Vilnius. Mindaugas Lukauskis had 25 points for Rytas, Joao Paolo Batista 22, Ivan Koljevic 21, Marijus Petravicius and Kareem Rush 13 each, Roberts Stelmahers 12 and Janis Blums 10. Rytas advanced to the next round by downing Sakalai 73-101 in Game 2. Martynas Gecevicius paced the winners with 15 points, Stelmahers and Batista each added 14, Arturas Jomantas got 12 and Lukauskis 10. Rytas is now ready to face Neptunas, that swept its series against Nevezys.
