Lithuanian League Semifinals, April 25-28, 2007
Tanoka Beard - Zalgiris There were no surprises in the Lithuanian League semifinals, as Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas advanced to the title series by sweeping their respective best-of-three semifinals. Zalgiris did not find much trouble to down Siauliai 91-78 in Game 1 in Kaunas. Loren Woods led the winners with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Tanoka Beard also posted a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, Mantas Kalnietis had 13 points while Marcelinho Machado and Hanno Mottola each added 11 for the hosts. Zalgiris had to battle harder to edge Siauliai 63-69 in Game 2. Machado, Beard and Woods each had 14 points for Zalgiris, that needed a 5-17 run in the final period to escape with a big win. Meanwhile, Rytas beat Neptunas 105-72 in Game 1 in Vilnius. Andrius Slezas led the winners with 22 points, Roberts Stelmahers added 19, Marijus Petravicius 14 and Janis Blums 13 in an easy win for Rytas. The reigning Lithuanian League champion swept the series with a 72-96 road win in Game 2 in Klaipeda. Joao Paolo Batista paced the winners with 21 points, Kareem Rush added 16, Stelmahers and Tomas Delininkaitis each had 15 while Petravicius got 11 for Rytas. The best-of-seven finals start on May 3.
