Portuguese League semifinals, Game 4: April 5-6, 2007
It will all come down to Game 5 in the Portuguese League semifinals! Lusitania Angra PM and Benfica stayed alive in their respective best-of-five series, that are now tied at 2-2. Lusitania forced Game 5 by edging Ovarense Aerosoles 87-82 in Game 4 on Saturday. Graham Brown paced the winners with 20 points, Mike Williams added 18 and Joao Figueiredo 17 for Lusitania. Cordell Henry had 24 points for Ovarense, Ben Reed added 19 and 11 rebounds while Shawn Jackson also posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Lusitania rallied in the final period to avoid being eliminated and force Game 5. Meanwhile, Benfica topped archrivals Porto Ferpinta 67-79 on the road in Game 4 on Sunday. Tyson Wheeler paced the winners with 17 points, Carlos Andrade added 16, Ashante Johnson 15, Leroy Watkins 13 and Brooks Sales 11. John Whorton had 16 points for Porto. Benfica led 33-36 at halftime and broke the game early in the third quarter to keep a safe lead for good. Ovarense and Benfica host Game 5 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
