Portuguese League semifinals, Game 5: May 7-8, 2007
Ovarense Aerosoles and Porto Ferpinta will face each other in the Portuguese League finals! Both teams survived by winning Game 5 of their respective semifinals and will go against each other in the best-of-five finals. Ovarense showed its power by simply overwhelming Lusitania Angra PM 92-55 in Game 5 on Monday. Shawn Jackson led the winners with 25 points, Gregory Stempin added 17 while Ben Reed had 14 for Ovarense. Joao Figueiredo had 25 points for Lusitania, but nobody else scored in double digits. Ovarense led 41-19 at halftime and did not find troubles to advance to the final. Meanwhile, Porto made it to the final by downing Benfica 57-73 on the road in Game 5 on Tuesday. Larry Jon Smith paced the winners with 19 points, John Whorton added 12 and Paulo Cunha 11. A 0-9 run broke the game late in the third quarter, 42-55, and Porto managed to return to the Portuguese League finals.
