Kaspars Cipruss - BC Ventspils Just it was expected, Ventspils became the first team to advance to the Latvian League finals by thrashing Liepaja 106-74 at home to sweep the best-of-five Latvian League finals. Kaspars Cipruss led the winners with 22 points on 10-of-11 two-pointers. Pavels Veselovs added 16, Aigars Vitols had 14, Uvis Helmanis 12 and Dusan Jelic 11 for Ventspils, that led 49-40 at halftime and boosted its margin to 85-61 after 30 minutes, enough to seal the outcome and win the series 3-0. Ventspils will face ASK Riga in the best-of-seven Latvian League finals. ASK Riga took a 2-1 lead in its semifinals series by edging Barons / LMT 68-66 behind 18 points from Sandis Valters in another game that went down to the wire. Barons tied the series at 2-2 by edging ASK Riga 80-78 in Game 4 with 20 points from EJ Rowlands. Kaspars Berzins added 17 points while Martynas Andrukaitis led ASK with 22 points. ASK took the series by edging Barons 79-74 in front of 5,100 fans in Game 5 on Friday. Curtis Millage paced the winners with 27 points while Andrukaitis added 14. Rowlands had 20 for Barons.
