Polish League Playoffs, Semifinals, Game 5: May 5-6, 2007
Turow Zgorzelec defeated Asco Slask Wroclaw 83-56 to win their best-of-seven Polish League Playoffs semifinal series 4-1 to reach the finals for the first time in franchise history. Meanwhile defending champion Prokom Trefl Sopot moved to within one victory of returning to the finals following a 71-57 home win over Anwil Wloclawek in Game 5. Anwil, which scored at least 82 points in each of the previous four games, was limited to 13-of-55 shooting – including 0-of-18 from beyond the arc. Prokom controlled the game from the beginning, lead by double digits in the second quarter and never let Anwil back. Huseyin Besok was the man of the day for Prokom with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocked shots, while Christian Dalmau added 12 and 5 assists. Otis Hill scored 16 and Goran Jagodnik 14 for Anwil. Game No. 6 is scheduled for Thursday in Wloclawek. Game No. 5 in Zgorzelec was equal only in the opening quarter. Then hosts soared to a double-digit advantage and never looked back. Their high-level defense was too much for struggling Slask. Thomas Kelati led winners with 21 points, Lukasz Koszarek added 14 and Lance Williams 13. Brandun Hughes was Slask’s only players in double figures with 17, while Oliver Stevic had 6 points and 11 rebounds. Turow held its opponents under 60 points for the fifth time in as many games despite losing the battle of the boards 24-33.
