Israeli League, Game 23: May 7, 2007
Yaniv Green - Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv ran up the score on Galil Elyon and took advantage of slumping Hapoel Jerusalem's loss to Ironi Nahariya to clinch the regular-season title in the Israeli League. Yaniv Green erupted for 21 points to as the defending champs improved to 21-2 with a 100-114. Jerusalem went down at Nahariya 109-96, but remains two-wins in front of Bnei Hasharon for second place. Jerusalem and Bnei Hasharon, which topped Ashkelon 95-77, are all but assured of meeting in one semifinal at the Israeli Final Four, while Galil and Nahariya are in a neck-and-neck battle for fourth place and the other semifinal ticket to face Maccabi. Jason Williams had a fine shooting night on the way to 27 points and Cookie Belcher added 22 points and 5 assists to lead Bnei Hasharon. Ricardo Marsh paced Ashkelon with 25 points in defeat. In other games, Ironi Ramat Gan outlasted Givat Shmuel 85-89 thanks to 27 points from Robert Brown and Gilboa/Afula topped Rishon Lezion 77-69.

Will Bynum dished a season-high 16 assists and Yaniv Green used a rare opportunity to start in place of a resting Nikola Vujcic and shined with 21 points in 21 minutes to lead Maccabi to a 100-114 win over Galil. Maccabi came out running and built a 15-28 lead, but Galil got within 26-32 after 10 minutes. The hosts never quit and always remained within striking distance, holding on at 50-56 at halftime and 79-86 after three quarters. However Maccabi's offense was in rare form and never let Galil threaten. Green was the top scorer with 21 points, Simas Jasaitis drilled 5 three-pointers on his way to 19, Tal Burstein had 16 points and 8 assists, Lior Eliyahu added 16 and Bynum 14 for Maccabi. Tre Simmons scored 24 and Avishai Gordon 17 in defeat.

Jerusalem fell apart in the fourth quarter on the way to a 109-96 loss at Nahariya. The loss marked Hapoel's third in its last four games and second this season at Nahiriya. It was 2-point game heading into the last 10 minutes, but Barak Peleg and Jeff Greer took control for Nahariya down the stretch on the way to a big win. Juan Mendez made 10-of-11 two-pointers to lead Nahariya with 31 points and 3 blocks, Sasa Ocokoljic posted 19 points and 8 assists, Peleg scored 17 and Greer 15 points. Mario Austin led Hapoel with 26 points, 11 boards and 6 assists, Timmy Bowers added 20 and Guy Pnini 16.
