Bulgarian League Finals, Game 1: May 12, 2007
Lukoil Academic Sofia took the first step on the way to winning another Bulgarian League title by beating CSKA 92-84 in Game 1 of the best-of-five finals series on Saturday. The defending champs started on fire by using an 11-0 run to lead 26-11 at the end of the first quarter and 51-41 at halftime. The visitors climbed within 59-58 at the midway point of the third quarter, but Academic reacted to enter in the last 10 minutes in front 67-61. Donta Smith had 24 points, Lamont Jones 23, Riste Stefanov 18 and Todor Stoykov 16 for the winners, while Greg Danielson recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Dimitar Mirakovski tallied 18 for CSKA.
