French League playoffs, quarterfinals, Game 2: Μay 17, 2007
Kenny Gregory - Le Mans Roanne and Adecco Asvel Lyon-Villeurbanne advanced to the French League semifinals on Thursday, while Sluc Nancy and Le Mans forced a third-and-deciding game in their best-of-three quarterfinals. Spencer Dewarick led five Roanne scorers in double figures with 20 points and 7 rebounds in a 74-60 win over Cholet to climb to the semis. Roanne will now wait for Game 3 of the Chalon/Saone-Le Mans to learn who its semifinal opponent will be. Le Mans won Game 2 78-85 on the road thanks to Kenny Gregory's 17 points. Asvel needed overtime to put Strasbourg away 103-105 and will next face either Nancy or Gravelines-Dunkerque. On Thursday, Nancy crushed Gravelines 89-66 behind Cedrick Banks's 22 points. The two Game 3s will be played on Saturday at Nancy and Chalon.

In an entertaining game in Strasbourg, Asvel led 20-28 after 10 minutes, Strasbourg came back for a 52-46 halftime advantage, the hosts went up 80-69 after three periods and then Asvel took the lead late in regulation. Chevon Troutman scored 12 points during a late 5-17 run to tie the game and then Rowan Barrett put the visitors ahead before Chuck Eidson scored for Strasbourg to force an extra period. The teams traded baskets as overtime got underway until Brian Greene's three put Asvel up 102-105. Omar Cook and Michael Smith tried to answer back, but both failed and Lyon-Villeurbanne held on for victory and a series sweep. Troutman finished with 24 points to lead his team, Jay Larranga drilled 5-of-6 triples on the way to 20 points in 17 minutes, Barrett added 18 and Yohann Sangare 11. Eidson posted 24 for Strasbourg, Smith had 20, Afik Nissim put up 17 off the bench and Aerick Sanders added 13.

Le Mans finished the game on a 2-17 run to beat Chalon. The hosts seemed to have everything under control after leading by 12 early in the fourth quarter. However Sandro Nicevic stepped up to bring Le Mans back and Eric Campbell and Nebojsa Bogavac finished the job for a 78-85 victory. Gregory led the way with 17, Nicevic added 14, Campbell 13, Clay Tucker 11 and Bogavac 10. Mamoutou Diarra threw in 24 points and Terrell Everett had 23 points and 10 boards for Chalon. Meanwhile Nancy built a double-digit lead in the first period, increased it to 49-28 at halftime and coasted to a series tying victory. Banks led Nancy with 22, Maxime Zianveni added 16, Cyril Julian posted 12 points and 9 rebounds and Branko Milisavljevic scored 10. Pat Carroll had 14 points, Uche Nsonwu-Amadi posted 13 points and 13 rebounds and Dainius Adomaitis scored 12 for Gravelines.
