Turkish League Semifinals, Game 2: May 15-18, 2007
Omer Onan - Fenerbahce Ulker Fenerbahce Ulker became the first team to advance to the Turkish League finals by edging archrivals Galatasaray Cafe Crown 64-69 in Game 3 on their best-of-five semifinal series on Friday. Fenerbahce swept the series and will face either Efes Pilsen or Turk Telekom, whose series is tied at 1-1. Omer Onan led Fenerbahce with 19 points. Damir Mrsic added 12 while Mirsad Turkcan scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners, who led 34-39 at halftime. Turkcan and Onan allowed Fenerbahce to boost its margin to 39-50, while Semih Erden gave the guests their biggest lead, 44-60. Galatasaray managed to get back into the game and tie it at 64-64, but Onan and free throws by Mrsic allowed Fener to put the victory on ice. Meanwhile, Efes Pilsen bounced back from its initial loss in its semifinal series by downing Turk Telekom 88-85 in Game 2 on Tuesday. Drew Nicholas paced the winners with 26 points. Marcus Haislip added 21 while Miksa Prkacin and Mustafa Abi each had 11 for Efes. Jan Jagla had 29 points for Turk Telekom. Nicholas and Haislip kept Efes ahead almost all the way and the hosts led 72-63 after 30 minutes. Jagla's ninth triple got Turk Telekom within 82-80 but Fikret Can Akin and Ermal Kuqo helped Efes to seal the win down the stretch. Turk Telekom hosts Game 3 on Saturday.
