Latvian League finals, Game 5: May 18, 2007
Eddie Shannon - Ventspils The defending Latvian League champion Ventspils remained alive by edging ASK Riga 86-83 in Game 5 of the best-of-seven finals series. Ventspils now trails Riga 2-3 as the series returns to the Latvian capital for Game 6 on Monday. A win for ASK in that game will make the club the first one other than Ventspils to win the league title this decade. Visiting Riga led at halftime 38-42 and seemed to be closer to lifting the trophy when they entered in the last quarter in front 61-66. But Ventspils showed pride and heart to capture the lead in a 25-16 fourth quarter to take the win and extend the series to a Game 6. Eddie Shannon led the way by scoring 18 points, Raimonds Vaikulis added 14, Dusan Jelic 12, Aigars Vitols 11 and Uvis Helmanis had 10. ASK Riga got 18 points from Sandis Valters, 15 from Sandis Buskevics and 14 from Martynas Andiurkaitis.
