French League quarterfinals, Game 3: May 19, 2007
Sluc Nancy and Elan Chalon joined Chorale Roanne and Adecco Asvel in the French League semifinals by surviving their respective best-of-three quarterfinal series 2-1. Nancy held off a wild rally to edge Gravelines 64-62 in GAme 3 at home to win the series 2-1. Tariq Kirksay paced the winners with 20 points, including the game-winning layup. Branko Milisavljevic added 13 while Dan McClintock had 12 for Nancy. Uche Nsonwu had 17 points for Gravelines, Jerome Schmitt added 16 and Rickey Paulding 13. Nancy led 25-21 after 10 minutes and used a 16-0 run to break the game open, 41-21, late in the second quarter. Gravelines did not give up, however, as an outstanding Paulding helped the guests to erase their deficit. He tied the game with a layup, 62-62, but Kirksay did the same in the other end to win the series for Nancy. Meanwhile, Chalon had less troubles to down Le Mans 89-67 at home in Game 3 also on Saturday. Terrell Everett and John Best paced the winners each with 19 points. Eric Campbell had 15 points for Le Mans while Yannick Bokolo and Sandro Nicevic each added 13 for the guests, who will not defend their French League title. Chalon used a mamooth 21-2 run in the first quarter to get the lead for good, as Le Mans never got within single digits again. As such, Roanne faces Chalon in one of the semifinals while Nancy goes against Asvel in the other, starting on May 22.
