Portuguese League Finals, Game 4: May 19, 2007
Ovarense Aerosoles bounced back from consecutive losses in the Portuguese League finals, regained the home court advantage and tied the best-of-seven series at 2-2 by downing FC Porto Ferpinta 66-73 in Game 4 on Saturday. Cordell Henry led the winners with 21 points. Gregory Stempin added 18 while Ben Reed had 14 for Ovarense, that outrebounded Porto by 31-41. Julian Blanks had 16 points for Porto, Rodrigo Mascarenhas added 12 while Larry Jon Smith and Nuno Marcal each got 10 for the hosts. Ovarense led 8-15 early in the game but Blanks and Marcal got Porto within 18-19 after 10 minutes. Porto managed to get its biggest lead at 34-26 but Ovarense used a 0-6 run to get within 34-32 at halftime. Reed, Henry and Stempin shined after the break to make Ovarense get a 50-56 edge after 30 minutes. Porto trailed all the way in the final period but managed to get within 66-70 with a minute to go. Free throws by Reed and Henry sealed the outcome. Ovarense hosts Game 5 on Tuesday.
