Croatian League Finals, Game 4: June 12, 2007
Cibona stayed alive in the Croatian League finals and set a do-or-die showdown by edging Zadar 89-90 on the road in Game 4 on the best-of-five title series on Tuesday. Series is now tied at 2-2, as Cibona overcame a make-or-break situation and hosts Game 5 on Zagreb on Thursday. Andrew Wisniewski became the game hero by hitting the game-winning free throw down the stretch. Davor Kus led the winners with 24 points on 9-of-13 two-pointers. Wisniewski added 20, Brent Wright had 14, Marin Rozic 13 and Chris Warren 10 for the defending champion. Carl English had 24 points for Zadar, Pankracije Barac added 13, Juby Johnson had 12, Frano Colak 11 and Jakov Vladovic 10. English led an 11-2 opening run that allowed Zadar to extend its margin to 18-8 early in the game. Even when Wisniewski got Cibona within 23-19, Zadar boosted its margin to 33-23 after 10 minutes. Wisniewski, Kus and Warren brought Cibona back into the game, but English and Barac helped Zadar to stay ahead, 54-47, at halftime. Zadar boosted its margin up to 75-65 after 30 minutes, and just when Cibona seemed to be losing the finals, the guests found a go-to guy in Rozic, who led a 0-10 Cibona run. He scored all the critical shots in the fourth quarter while Wisniewski gave Cibona a 86-89 edge with 28 seconds to go. Barac buried one from downtown for a 89-89 tie, as Zadar opted to foul on Wisniewski. He made his second shot with 13 seconds remaining and Cibona did not allow a final shot, escaping with a crucial win.
