Swiss League, Game 2: October 7, 2006
Three teams - the Birstal Starwings, Sion Herens Basket, BBC Monthey - tie atop the Swiss League standings with a 2-0 record, while another unbeaten team, Olympic Fribourg, did not play this weekend. The Birstal Starwings beat Lausanne Morges Basket 75-91 on the road on Saturday. Jared McCurry was absolutely unstoppable and led all scorers with 42 points for the Starwings, who led 32-47 at halftime and cruised to a well-deserved win. Herens beat Vevey Riviera Basket 94-72 at home to improved to 2-0. Vincent Thomas had 27 points for Herens while as usual, Herman Laston led Vevey with 30 points. Sion Herens led 58-39 at halftime and never had troubles to add another win. In other games, BBC Monthey beat the Geneva Devils 63-68, Basket-Club Boncourt edged the Lugano Tigers 45-50 in a rematch of last year's Swiss League final while Aurelys BBC Nyon topped Meyrin Grand-Saconnex 81-78.
