Turkish League Game 1: October 7-8, 2006
Fenerbahce Ulker made a good start to the BEKO Turkish League 2006-07 season by beating Pinar Karsiyaka of Izmir 77-82 on the road. The Euroleague side struggled in the first quarter, after which they led 24-25, but took control of the game in the second. The duo of Will Solomon and Ira Clark worked well together on offense and increased the lead minute by minute. Semih Erden joined the game in the middle of this quarter and made 9 points for his team for a 37-49 halftime edge. Fenerbahce started the second half with a three-pointer from captain Ibrahim Kutluay but the home team replied with guard Mehmet Yagmur and forward Serhat Cetin to stay in the game at the end of the third period, 53-63. In the last quarter, Fenerbahce turnovers helped Pinar Karsiyaka to come back and Marcus Slaughter and Roy Booker scored straight points. Pinar finally tied the game to 68-68 just 4 minutes before the end with a layup of Slaughter. Mirsad Turkcan answered with a three-pointer and add another from downtown in the last minute. When the home side wasn't able to respond the same way, Fenerbahce won the game 77-82. Turkcan scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for a double-double. Solomon scored 18 points, Clark finished with 14 while both Kutluay and Erden added 9 each.

Besiktas Cola Turka made an impressive start by defeating Oyak Renault of Bursa 66-44 easily at Akatlar Arena. Jamel Thomas and Baris Ozcan scored 16 points each. Thomas added 11 rebounds and 3 assists. The home team stopped Renault scoring after the 4th minute until the end of the first quarter and led the first 10 minutes, 22-10, eased the game in the second quarter with Thomas and Ozcan points to go into the dressing rooms 39-21 ahead. Renault's poor offense helped Besiktas to found numerous fastbreaks in the remaining minutes after a quiet third quarter and the home team won the game 66-44. Center Djuro Ostojic put up 11 points for Besiktas and Charles Bennett led Renault with 18.
