Greek Cup elimination rounds: October 8, 2006
Panathinaikos beat Maroussi twice in the Greek Cup semifinals and made it to a third consecutive final, where they will play the winner of the double semifinals between Rethimno and Kolossos Rhodes, both second division teams. After they eliminated Olympiacos, 79-71, the Greens beat Olympia of Larissa, 84-55 and qualified to the semifinals, where they registered two victories over Maroussi: 108-75 at home and 79-82 away. Tony Delk led Panathinaikos in both games, bagging 19 and 18 points respectively. The opponent of Panathinaikos in the Greek Cup final will be decided after the two semifinals between Rethimno and Kolossos Rhodes, which will be held on December 20 and 27. The final game is scheduled for March 25 and Panathinaikos, which won the last two cups, has the opportunity to add the third in a row and the 10th in its history. In the previous rounds of the Greek Cup, AEK eliminated Aris, 67-64 and lost to Maroussi at home, 69-79, while PAOK beat away Olympiada Patras, 60-69 and lost to Rethimno, 93-82.
