German League, Game 3: October 11, 2006
RheinEnergie Koln improved to 2-1 on the road in the German League with a 64-83 win at Deutsche Bank Skyliners on Wednesday, while Brose Baskets Bamberg was edged 67-65 by Artland Dragons. RheinEnergie, which has yet to play at home, used a 12-20 third quarter to build on a 39-48 halftime lead to put Skyliners away. Ronald Burrell came off the bench to shoot 10-of-11 from the field on the way to 22 points and Demond Mallet added 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead RheinEnergie. Marcus Faison was also good for 11 points and 6 boards. Travon Bryant led Skyliners with 19 points and 8 boards. Adam Hess drilled four 3s on the way to 22 points to lead Artland past Bamberg. Artland trailed 48-51 heading into the fourth quarter, but was able to turn things around to improve to 3-0 and join EnBW Ludwigsburg in first place. Chad Prewitt added 15 points and 4 assists and Brian Thornton scored 11 for the winners. K'Zell Wesson led Brose Baskets with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists, but also committed 8 turnovers. Adam Harrington, Darren Fenn and Robert Garrett added 12 points apiece. Ludwigsburg got 18 points from Miljan Goljovic as it edged Eisbaren Bremerhaven 74-75. In other games, ratiopharm Ulm beat EWE Baskets Oldenburg 91-77, New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig defeated Giessen 46ers 58-79, Walter Tigers Tübingen bested sellbytel Baskets Nürnberg 74-58 and Paderborn Baskets defeated TBB Trier 60-75.
