Polish League, Game 2: October 18, 2006
Adam Wojcik - Prokom Trefl Sopot Prokom Trefl Sopot defeated AZS Koszalin 83-53 in the second day of Polish League action to remain one of just three undefeated teams. Prokom took control from the start behind Adam Wojcik, who finished with 19 points in 17 minutes on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Jeff Nordgaard added 13 and Christian Dalmau 12. Every player on coach Eugeniusz Kijewski's roster played and scored in the blowout. Chris Hunter was AZS's only player in double figures with 13 points. Anwil Wloclawek had a tough battle at Turow Zgorzelec, but finally grabbed its the second win, 63-66. The visitors' zone defense was the key during a third quarter that changed the game's momentum, as Anwil raced 10-19. Andrzej Pluta led Anwil with 15 points, despite suffering a thumb injury in the second quarter. Gatis Jahovics added 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Dusan Bocevski had 11 and 7. Robert Witka scored 15 for Turow and Lukasz Koszarek added 14, but missed a potential game-tying triple at the buzzer. Polpak Swiecie is the only other unbeaten team in the league after a 73-79 victory at Kotwica Kolobrzeg. David Moss led winner with 23 points, while Grzegorz Arabas scored 15 for hosts. Greg Harrington scored 24 points, added 8 rebounds and 3 steals for Polpharma in a 79-70 decision over Stal Ostrow. Wojciech Szawarski and Dainis Obersats both had 16 points for Stal. Bergson Slask Wroclaw beat away Energa Czarni Slupsk 62-66 behind 18 points from Radoslaw Hyzy, who also missed all 7 of his free-throw attempts. Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz scored 14 points for hosts, while Alex Dunn was the beast rebounder of the day with 14 boards. Sokolow Znicz Jaroslaw grabbed its first ever victory in the Polish first division by beating another newcomer, Kager Gdynia, 85-70. Jaroslaw ran away down the stretch, outscoring Gdynia 35-16 in the fourth quarter. Tony Atkins had 16 points to lead five Znicz players in double figures. Aaron Pettway had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds for the visitors. And Unia Tarnow beat Polonia Warsaw 71-63 behind 18 points and 16 rebounds from Sani Ibrahim. Jeff Stern led Polonia with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
