Sanex Antwerp G saw off the challenge of Spirou Charleroi to remain in sole possession of first place after six rounds of play in the Belgian League. Antwerp, which won 81-73, improved to 5-1 and has one win more than Dexia Mons-Hainaut, which has played one game less. The hosts pulled away in the third quarter after an even first half, which saw the score knotted at 37-37 at halftime. Len Matela led Antwerp with 26 points and 7 rebounds, while Gur Shelef came off the bench for 13 points and 3 steals. Senne Geukens also had 13 for Antwerp. Cyril Akpomedah led Charleroi with 17 points and 9 boards, Ralph Biggs added 16 and Andre Riddick 14. Mons went on the road to topple Okapi Aalstar, which before the game was tied for first place with Antwerp. Mons's 72-77 win was a product of a strong fourth-quarter, in which the visitors outscored Aalstar 13-24. Bingo Merriex led Mons with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Kevin Houston added 18, Shawnta Rogers 14 points and 7 assists and George Evans was good for 9 points and 14 boards. Adam Hall had 24 points and 8 rebounds for Aalstar in defeat. Oostende also won on the road, topping Liege Basket 68-84. The story of the game was a 9-26 third quarter, which put Oostende in control for good. Rashad Wright had 19 points and 6 assists, while Lavor Postell and Eric Hicks had 16 each for Oostende. Elvir Ovcina added 11 points and 13 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Vanja Plisnic scored 11 as well. Ryan Moss finished with 14 for Liege. In other games, Euphony Bree got its second win by defeating R Atomia Brussels 72-83 and Basket Gr Leuven downed Verviers-Pepinster 94-65 behind Ian Hanavan's 21-point, 9-rebound and 6-assists effort.
