German League, Game 5: October 19-20, 2006
EnBW Ludwigsburg stays as the only unbeaten team in the German League with a 4-0 record, as its road game against Walter Tigers Tubingen was postponed until December 26. Alba Berlin improved to 4-1 by edging BG Karlsruhe 63-65 on the road on Friday. Will Avery led the winners with 23 points on 8-for-9 shooting, Chris Owens added 14 and Julius Jenkins had 10 for Alba. It all came down to the final minute, in which Alba led 61-62. Owens and David Fergerson exchanged free throws, while Avery made 1 of 2 for a 63-65 edge with 5 seconds to go. Fergerson missed the game-winning triple for Karlsruhe at the buzzer. RheinEnergie Cologne also improved to 4-1 by edging EWE Baskets Oldenburg 64-68 on the road on Thursday. Marcus Faison led RheinEnergie with 22 points off the bench. Immanuel McElroy added 14 and Ronald Burrell 11 for the winners, who led 38-49 after three quarters and held off an Oldenburg rally to get a big road win. Brose Baskets had less troubles to thrash TBB Trier 67-88 on the road on Friday. Darren Fenn paced the winners with 25 points on 10-for-11 shooting, Dejan Collins added 13 and Adam Harrington 11 in an easy win for Bamberg, which led 41-57 at halftime and never looked back.
