Will Avery - Alba Berlin EnBW Ludwigsburg stays as the only unbeaten team in the German League with a 5-0 record after six rounds of action, in which teams like Padeborn Baskets have played seven games while Brose Baskets only hit the court in three. Ludwigsburg edged TBB Trier 84-81 to improve to 5-0 in the standings. Pavelas Cukinas led the winners with 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting, Miljan Goljovic added 14 points and Je'kel Foster 13 for Ludwigsburg, which held off a second-half Trier rally to win the game. Alba Berlin improved to 5-1 by topping Padeborn 92-77 in Berlin on Wednesday, in an early game from Round 8. Demond Greene led the winners with 16 points, Chris Owens added 15, Julius Jenkins had 14, Sharrod Ford 12 and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje 10 for Alba, which led 52-40 at halftime and never looked back. Alba postponed its Round 6 game against RheinEnergie until February 7, 2007. Meanwhile, Brose Baskets needed overtime to down the Deutsche Bank Skyliners 80-74 in Bamberg on Tuesday. Darren Fenn led the way with 16 points, DeJuan Collins added 15, Zelly Wesson 12 and Adam Harrington 10 for Brose Baskets. Vincent Yarbrough hit 1 of 2 free throws with no time on the shot clock to send the game to overtime, 69-69, and Bamberg took full control of the game early in the extra period. In other games, EWE Baskets Oldenburg edged Paderborn Baskets 70-73, New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig beat Walter Tigers Tubingen 75-72, Ratiopharm Ulm downed Sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg 73-89, Telekom Baskets Bonn defeated the Artland Dragons 83-78 in overtime while BG Karlsruhe bested the Giessen 46ers 79-61.
