Sluc Basket Nancy, Roanne and Chalon keep tying for the top spot in the French League standings, each with a 7-1 record. Nancy got ready for its ULEB Cup debut this week by beating Reims 77-67 at home on Saturday. Cedrick Banks and Dan McClintock led the winners each with 19 points. McClintock added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Victor Samnick had 14 points and John Linehan 12 for Nancy. McClintock and Linehan fueled a 8-0 run which allowed Nancy to get a 21-16 edge after 10 minutes, and even when Reims got within 43-42 right after the break, Nancy boosted its margin to 70-56 midway through the final period and never looked back. Roanne thrashed Le Mans 93-76 on Sunday behind 26 points from Dewarick Spencer. Lenny Gregory had 15 points for Le Mans, which trailed 68-53 after three quarters and never recovered. Chalot beat Strasbourg 89-83 at home with
Terrell Everett leading the way with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Aerick Sanders and Claude Marquis each had 15 points for Strasbourg, Dirk Madrich added 13, Afik Nissim 12 and Lonnie Cooper 11. Strasbourg led 12-22 at the end of the first quarter but trailed all the way in the final 17 minutes. Meanwhile, Pau-Orthez improved to 4-4 and is now on a three-game winning streak by downing Orleans 84-69 at home. C.C. Harrison led the winners with 18 points, Michael Bauer had 15, Ricardo Greer 13, Michael Wright 12 and Xane D'Almeida 10. Pau trailed 36-38 at halftime, but Bauer and Harrison had 6 points each in a 17-2 run which sealed the outcome in the final period. In other games, Hyeres-Toulon upset Paris 68-76, Clermont downed Le Havre 52-65, Bourg topped Dijon 73-87 while Adecco Asvel thrashed Besancon 61-88 behind 28 points from Amara Sy.
