Baltic League, Games 6-7: October 23-29
Tanoka Beard - Zalgiris Kaunas Zalgiris Kaunas improved to 6-0 atop Group A of the Baltic League, while rival Lietuvos Rytas won to remain second in Group B. Ventspils is just one game behind L. Rytas after it win. Zalgiris went on the road to top Kalev/Cramo 77-89. L. Rytas, which needed overtime to get past Rock Tartu earlier in the week, was too much for Nevezis on Sunday, winning 108-58. Latvian champs Ventspils destroyed Panevezys 91-65. In Tuesday's games, Panevezys thrashed Atletas Kaunas 93-56 , Sakalai Vilnius scored a 75-83 road win at Barons/LMT and Kalev/Cramo edged Siauliai 74-70. On Wednesday, Neptunas Klaipeda outlasted Lacplesa Alus 80-81 in a thriller. In Saturday's games, Sakalai defeated Lacplesa Alus 92-82, Siauliai edged Neptunas 71-68, Rock thrashed Atletas Kaunas 106-69 and ASK Riga topped Nevezis 74-70. ASK followed that up with an 87-73 win over Panevezys on Sunday to improve to 6-0 in Group B.

Zalgiris stormed back in the second half to beat Kalev/Cramo 77-89 in Tallinn, Estonia. The hosts led 48-36 at halftime, but Zalgiris exploded with a 17-2 run in the third period, which ended with the visitors ahead by 9 and held on from that point. Tanoka Beard and Hanno Mottola scored 19 points apiece. Beard also grabbed 9 rebounds. Vidas Ginevicius added 10 of his 13 points in the second half and Kirk Penney and Marko Popovic had 11 each. Travis Reed led Kalev/Cramo with 19 points and 7 boards, while Catalin Burlacu posted 15 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.

L. Rytas got 18 from Matt Nielsen and 15 from Andre Emmet to beat Estonian side Rock Tartu 77-79 in overtime on Tuesday, but bounced back with a huge result against Nevezis on Sunday. Andrius Slezas led five scorers in double figures with 23 points in the 108-58 win. Emmet and Tomas Delininkaitis added 13 apiece, Arturas Jomantas chipped in 12 and Mindaugas Lukauskis tallied 11. Tomas Rinkevicius led Nevezis with 17. Ventspils had an easy time Saturday against Panevezys with a 91-65 victory. The hosts led 27-11 at the end of the first quarter and coasted from that point. Uvis Helmanis was the main man for Ventspils with 15 points, while Dusan Jelic added 12 points and 11 rebounds, Dalron Johnson scored 11 and Eddie Shannon and Maris Laksa rounded out the top scorers with 10 each. Tomas Gaidamavicius paced Panevezys with 17.
