French League, Game 9: November 4-5, 2006
Tariq Kirksay Nancy Nancy and Roanne keep sharing the top spot in the French League standings, each with a 8-1 record. Nancy rallied in the final period to edge Adecco Asvel 83-86 on the road on Sunday. Tariq Kirksay led the winners with 24 points, Dan McClintock and Cyril Julian each added 17, Cedrick Banks had 15 and John Linehan 11 for Nancy. Julian added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Nancy trailed 74-66 with 9 minutes to go, but McClintock and back-to-back triples by Kirksay gave Nancy a 81-82 edge. Julian dunked it while Linehan sealed the win from the free throw line. Roanne beat Paris 94-79 to stay atop the standings. Dewarick Spencer led the way with 28 points, Marc Salyers added 26 and Aaron Harper 23 for Roanne. Le Mans dropped to 3-6 due to a 69-73 home loss against Clermont. Rob Feaster led the winners with 21 points. Kenny Gregory had 13 points for Le Mans.

A three-pointer by Pape-Philippe Amagou and a jumper by Gregory seemed to seal the win, 69-64, but Clermont capped the game with a 0-9 run to escape with a big road win. Strasbourg also dropped to 3-6 due to a 76-79 home loss against Le Havre. John Cox had 20 points for Le Havre, while Claude Marquis led 5 Strasbourg players in double digits with 16 points. It all came down to the final minute, in which Michael Smith brought the hosts within 76-78. Joah Tucker made 1 of 2 foul shots for Le Havre, while Smith missed a desperation three-point shot at the buzzer. Pau-Orthez dropped to 4-5 due to a 89-95 road loss against Hyeres-Toulon. Brian Brown led the winners with 25 points. Cedric Ferchaud had 18 points for Pau, Ricardo Greer added 16 and Michael Wright 15. Pau led 60-65 with 8 minutes to go, but Brown and Austin Nichols shined in crunch time to seal the win down the stretch. In other games, Reims edged Dijon 71-69, Cholet beat Bourg 61-68, Gravelines topped Chalon 83-80 while Orleans defeated Besancon 74-66.
