Polish League, Game 5: November 5-6, 2006
Christian Dalmau Prokom Trefl Sopot Prokom Trefl Sopot and Anwil Wloclawek both won over the weekend to improve to 4-1 and retain their share of the lead in the Polish League. Prokom seems to be back on the right track after last week's sensational home loss to Polonia Warsaw. On Sunday the defending champs beat Gipasr Stal Ostrow 74-101 on the road. Meanwhile Anwil eased past Polpharma Starogard Gdanski 92-83 behind Andrzej Pluta, who matched his career high with 35 points. Bergson Slask Wrocław stretched the longest wining streak in the league to four with a 65-72 win at Kager Gdynia. Bergson trailed for most of the game, but finally took the lead with less than four minutes remaining and held on for good. Radoslaw Hyzy led the way with 19 points, while Dean Oliver added 12 of his 17 in the last quarter. Michael Kuebler scored 19 for Kager. Andres Rodriguez scored a game-high 16 points, added 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals to lead Turow over Polpak Swiecie 53-63. AZS Koszalin remains as the only team without a victory following a 63-74 home loss to Energa Czarni Slupsk. In the biggest drama of the weekend Unia Tarnow beat Kotwica Kolobrzeg 91-86 after double overtime. Lamar Morinia had 23 points and 9 assists for Unia, Toree Morris added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Brandun Hughes led the guests with 20 points, while Rafal Bigus had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Polonia Warsaw lost at home to Znicz Jaroslaw 71-73.

On Sunday, the defending champs beat Gipasr Stal Ostrow, 74-101, on the road to improve to 4-1. Prokom took control early in the first quarter and never looked back as all 12 players that dressed played and scored. Donatas Slanina lead them with 20 points, Jasmin Hukic added 16 and Christian Dalmau finished with 15 points and 8 assists. Artur Brunins scored 19 for Stal, which trailed by as many as 30 early in the fourth period, despite winning the battle on the glass, 31-27. Anwil didn't have a much tougher battle against Polpharma Starogard Gdanski, winning in the end 92-83. The hosts won the second quarter 29-12 and held on from that point. Shooting guard Andrzej Pluta matched his career high with 35 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and 8-of-8 from the line. He also scored 35 in the first game of the season and now leads the Polish League in scoring with an average of 25.4 points per game. The league assists leader, Mark Dickel, finished with the second double-double of the season – 10 points and 13 assists. Gatis Jahovics added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, while Wiktor Grudzinski had 11 points. Greg Jarrington and Whithey Robinson combined for 40 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists for Polpharma.
