French League, Game 10: November 11-12, 2006
Kenny Gregory Le Mans Sarthe Roanne survived another test in its Cinderella run atop the French League, topping Euroleague side Pau-Orthez on the road 81-94 to improve to 9-1. Roanne became the exclusive league-leader after Nancy, which entered the weekend tied with Roanne, lost 81-86 at home to Orleans. Dee Spencer led Roanne with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Aaron Harper added 16 points. Pau, which just Wednesday stunned European champion CSKA Moscow, falls to 4-6. Chalon/Saone is tied for second after trashing Bourg 79-53 behind Phillippe Braud's 15 points. Kenny Gregory helped Le Mans leave Paris with a 60-64 win, while Afik Nissim netetd 31 points in 30 minutes as Strasbourg topped Clermont 83-85. In other games, Terrance Johnson scored 22 and Mario Bennett added 12 points and 15 rebounds to lead Dijon to an 86-69 victory over Adecco ASVEL; J.K. Edwards posted 14 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks to lead Cholet past Rheims 83-52; and Besancon outlasted Hyeres-Toulon 95-88 behind 20 points apiece from Florent Éleleara and Cory Bradford. In Friday's game, Le Havre defeated Gravelines-Dunkirk 96-75 as Tony Stanley finished with 31 points and 7 rebounds.

Roanne led by 12 after 10 minutes and 15 at halftime as it downed Pau-Orthez. While the visitors played a solid game, Pau self-destructed with 8-of-28 (28.6%) three-point shooting and 17-of-27 (63%) from the line. Spencer led Roanne with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Harper added 16 points. Marc Salyers had 15 and Laurent Cazalon came off the bench for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Britton Johnsen led Pau with 23 points and 9 rebounds, Michael Wright scored 20 and Ricardo Greer had 17 in defeat. Nancy fell from the league lead with a surprising loss to Orleans. Nancy led by 1 at halftime, but was outscored 29-16 in the third quarter. Ben Dewar led the way with 20 points, while Terrence Dials was good for 18 points and 10 rebounds. Cyril Julian had a monster night for Nancy with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. DeRon Hayes added 11 and Maxime Zianveni 10. Le Mans came away from Paris with a tough win behind a strong outing from Gregory, who finished with 16. Eric Campbell played 40 minutes and scored 12, and Pape Philippe Amagou added 11. Larry Stewart led Paris with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Nissim was the hero for Strasbourg as it edged Clermont. Nissim came off the bench to drill 7-of-9 threes and add 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Chuck Eidson added 13 points and 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Claude Marquis 11 points and 9 rebounds. Larry Owens led Clermont with 19 and Thomas Larrouquis had 16 points.
