Russian League, Game 7: November 13-19, 2006
Ksistof Lavrinovic - Unics Kazan Even without defending champion CSKA playing this weekend, the fight at the top of the Russian League proved interesting. First, the two Russian representatives from the ULEB Cup squared off face-to-face, and when the dust settled Unics had aoutlasted Khimky 73-65 as Ksistof Lavrinovic led teh way again with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Unics remains undefeated and tied with CSKA for first place at 6-0. Next, Dynamo Moscow rallied in the second half to win 77-78 at Dinamo Moscow Region on a three-pointer by Travis Hansen with 3 seconds to play. Hansen finished with 23 points after making 5 of 7 triples. In other results earlier in the week, sixth-place Lokomotiv Rostov rolled by Ural Great Perm 77-50 as Omar Sneed had 25 points; Spartak St. Petersberg ruled on the road by 52-87 against Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv as Fedor Dmitriev had 13 points; and a cople days earlier, Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv stopped visiting Spartak VGUES 86-60 as Anatoly Serguienko putting in 23 points.

Playing before 4,000 home fans in Kazan, Unics used a 20-9 third quarter to put the necessary distance between itself and Khimky before coasting to an eight-point victory to remain undefeated. Better shooting percentages made the difference for Unics, which besides 20 from Lavrinovic got 15 points from Jarrod Stevenson, including 4 of 7 three-pointer, and 12 from Saulius Stombergas. Melvin Booker led Khimky with 17 points, while Vladimir Veremeenko registered a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Looking to avoid falling two victories behind CSKA and Unics, Dynamo struggled on the road at Dinamo Moscow Region, falling behind 44-37 at the half before turning things around with a 13-22 third quarter. Still, it took Hansen to bury his fifth triple in the closing seconds for Dynamo to go home with the victory and exclusive hold on third place at 5-1. Hansen was followed in the scoring column by Antonis Fotsis with 14 points, while Dmitry Domani and Bojan Popovic had 10 each. Fotsis grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double.
