French League, Game 11: November 18-19, 2006
Kenny Gregory - Le Mans Things remained the same atop the French League after Round 11 as the top four teams in the standings all won over the weekend. Leader Roanne edged Besancon 93-88 in overtime to improve to 10-1, while second placed SLUC Nancy and Chalon/Saone won on the road. Nancy walloped Hyeres-Toulon 55-91 and Chalon/Saone overcame Reims 78-86. The team in fourth place, Adecco ASVEL, defeated Cholet 89-79. In Sunday's game, Pau-Orthez, the only team to beat reigning Euroleague champion CSKA Moscow this season, continued to struggle domestically with an 83-77 loss at Paris. Pau, which was down 62-49 at he end of the third quarter, made a valiant comeback, but still came up short in the end, falling to 4-7 in the standings. T.J. Parker was the star of the game for Paris with 23 points in 19 minutes off the bench. Le Mans topped Strasbourg 63-55 in a matchup of the last two French-League champions. The reigning champs, Le Mans were in control for much of the game and sealed it by holding Strasbourg to 9 fourth-quarter points. Kenny Gregory led Le Mans with 14 points and 6 rebounds. In other games, Orleans got 22 points and 5 assists from Jermaine Boyette to beat Dijon 86-78; Borough edged Le Havre 70-66 and Gravelines Dunkerque bested Clermont 61-52.

Le Mans, which nearly knocked off Olympiacos in Euroleague action on Thursday, was the better side on Saturday against Strasbourg. Gregory paced Le Mans with 14 points and 6 rebounds, Eric Campbell added 13 and 6, and Yannick Bokolo finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Chuck Eidson led Strasbourg with 11 points, Claude Marquis added 10 and Aerick finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds for Strasbourg. Pau-Orthez got a strong night from its forward duo of Michael Wright (20 points) and Britton Johnsen (18 points and 8 rebounds), but couldn't dig itself out of a hole against Paris. T.J. Parked sniped 7-of-11 three-pointers on his way to a season-high 23 points for the winning team. Larry Stewart added 20 and Vladimir Petrovic had 14 points and 7 rebounds. C.C. Harrison scored added for Pau, while Ricardo Greer posted 10 and Aaron Miles finished with 7 points and 7 assists.

Nancy pounded Hyeres-Toulon in a game where 10 players saw between 12 and 25 minutes for the winning side. John Linehan led five scorers in double-figures with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals, Cedrick Banks added 14, and Victor Samnick had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Daniel McClintock finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Cyril Julian scored 10 as well. David Bailey scored 12 points for Hyeres-Toulon. First place Roanne needed overtime to beat Besancon. Dee Spencer led a three-pronged effort with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, Aaron Harper was good for 23 and Marc Salyers added 18 points and 12 rebounds. Tomislav Ruzic and Cory Bradford paced Besancon with 21 points each.
