Portuguese League, Game 6: November 18-19, 2006
Cordell Henry's basket with a minute remaining stood up as Ovarense Aerosoles edged Futebol Clube do Porto Ferpinta 73-74 in a battle of previously undefeated clubs in the Portuguese League on Saturday. Ovarense improved to 5-0, while FC Porto fell to 4-1. Benfica Lisbon, which defeated Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial 75-78 on Sunday, climbed into second place with a 5-1 mark. Henry scored with 63 seconds left on the clock to give Ovarense a 3-point lead. Paulo Cunha got Porto within 1 on the ensuing possession, but neither team could score after that. Porto led 59-49 at the end of the third quarter and increased the lead to 14 early in the fourth, but scored only 8 points in the last eight-and-a-half minutes of the game. Gregory Stempin led Ovarense with 21 points and 9 rebounds, while Henry and Miguel Miranda finished with 10 each. Cunha led Porto with 17. Ashante Johnson came off the bench for 26 points as Benefica downed Lusitania. In other games, Queluz Sintra Patrimonio Mundial won its first game of the season, edging Casino Figueira Ginasio 70-69 behind Rob Kampman's 18 points and Barreirense scored a 56-70 road win at CAB Madeira.
