Russian League, Game 8: November 25-26, 2006
Defending champion CSKA Moscow remained undefeated atop the Russian League with a 78-66 win over Lokomotiv Rostov. CSKA outscored Rostov 28-12 in the first quarter to take a commanding lead and cruise to a 7-0 record. David Andersen led five CSKA scorers in double figures with 17 points. Coach Ettore Messina divvied up the minutes among his sqaud, with each of his 10 players seeing at least 15 minutes on the floor, bit no one more than 25. Youngsters Nikita Kurbanov and Anton Ponkrashov added 12 each, Trajan Langdon scored 11 and Alexay Savrasenko finished with 10. Asim Pard led Rostov with 18. Dynamo Moscow improved to 6-1 by beating Khimki 89-94. Travis Hansen scored 24 and Sergey Monia 22 for Dynamo, which led 40-44 at halftime. The win sees the club move with a half-game of Unics Kazan for second place. Antonios Fotsis added 18, Yuri Vasiliev 14 and Bojan Popovic 10 for the winners. Oscar Torres led Khimki with 21, Ruben Wolkowyski added 19 and Maciej Lampe 10. In other games, University-Ugra went 0-2 on a weekend road trip, losing 82-73 at Ural Great on Friday and falling 81-76 to Dynamo Moscow Region on Sunday as Nikolay Padius scored 25.
